Youth tries to live stream suicide, Mumbai police foils bid

A 27-year-old professional photographer was rescued by Saki Naka police as he was about to hang himself to death at his residence on Friday evening.

The youth was depressed after he fought with his wife and had decided to take an extreme step. He started streaming his suicide via WhatsApp and was posting statuses and pictures on various groups when police learnt about the incident and reached his home.

A resident of Saki Naka in Andheri, the youth was hanging from the ceiling fan when the Saki Naka police reached his residence. His parents were unaware about the incident.

"We were informed by a person about the suicide bid, and we rushed to the spot to rescue the youth. The family members were shocked as they were not expecting police. They said their son was resting upstairs.
After the youth did not open the door we had to take him into confidence but by that time he had disconnected the streaming of his act,"  said a Saki Naka police officer.

"We took the youth into confidence and he revealed that he had fought with his wife leading which he was depressed and wanted to end his life. We will counsel him now", said Avinash Dharmadhikari, Senior Inspector, Saki Naka police station.
