Youth gags, rapes 90-yr-old woman

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the Tilak Nagar police for allegedly raping a 90-year old woman after gagging her and tying up her limbs on Thursday. The incident took place in a shanty in Chembur.

According to the Tilak Nagar police, the accused identified as Prabhu Nadar, a labourer, was drinking with two friends in Pestom Sagar in Chembur. "Nadar and his two friends got drunk and were sleeping on the road. Later, his friends ran away with his mobile and wallet," said Bhagwat Sonawane, senior police inspector, Tilak Nagar police station. Later, when Nadar woke up he went to the shanty where the victim lived alone.

"The incident occurred at around 2.30 am in a shanty at Pestom Sagar. Nadar entered the house to find the door ajar and barged into the room and raped the victim." said Sonawane. The police also said that Nadar tied the woman's limbs and stuffed cloth in her mouth so that she doesn't raise an alarm before raping her.

The grandson of the victim, who lives next door, said that Nadar had bolted two rooms occupied by the victim's sons from outside. "She was tied and raped by Nadar and our house was bolted from outside. There are bite marks on her body," said the victim's grandson.

"She was so scared and shaken. She is admitted at Sion hospital," he added. Nadar was arrested by the Tilak Nagar police from the area and is booked for rape.
