The Sewree court has convicted a youth who was held for rash driving at Reay Road in 2015. The court presided over by judge TS Sandhu in his judgement held that since the accused is a first-time offender, he is liable to a monetary punishment. The court has thus asked the accused to pay a fine of Rs 1,000.

The judgment copy has withheld the name of the accused for reasons unknown. The accused was arrested in the year 2015 for riding his scooter in the lanes of Reay Road, where hutments are prevalent along the road. The accused held that the lane was not demarcated with a 'no entry' sign, and thus was riding through the lanes.

The court while deciding on the matter held , "The prosecution has examined total three witnesses in the case and no one has disclosed about the rash driving of the accused." It is a matter of fact that there are hutments in the lanes in which the accused was riding his two wheeler, "As per section 184 of the motor vehicle act it can be considered that the act of driving on such roads is itself dangerous driving. It was done without considering the place where the scooter was driven ,"held the court.
