The city recently saw a unique initiative — Hair for Hope — where people were asked to donate 15 inches of hair to make wigs for cancer patients who lose hair in chemotherapy.
Founder and CEO at Hair for Hope India Premi Mathew said, "This initiative is close to my heart as I am a breast cancer survivor myself and know the trauma women face after chemotherapy. The response has been overwhelming. It was wonderful to see youths and elders alike come and selflessly donate."
A third year BMS student Josmine Joehl, who donated her hair, said, "I hope my small step helps someone in need. Not only me but my sister and friends too have cut their hair for this."
Interestingly, the event saw boys coming to donate as well. One of them, Lendle Sunny, 22, said, "Everyone should contribute to this excellent cause and help it spread further."
Hair for Hope has donated 3,000 wigs in 10 months, and expects the number to rise further.
