It was on Dussehra day last year when Jasmine Devidas’s one-day-old baby was stolen from Wadia hospital. The police are still clueless about the stolen baby. Devidas, who had approached the Bombay High Court for justice, has lost his Dubai job. Jasmine is yet to come to terms that her baby is still not found. Now, the couple wants the CID to investigate the case.

“It was Dussehra that day (October 24) when we last saw our son. A year later, we are still waiting for him and the policemen have no clue about his whereabouts. We are going to demand a CID inquiry for our case as we have no faith in the police who are investigating it.” Jasmine said.

In May this year, the distraught parents approached the Bombay High Court through an NGO, after they were not satisfied with police investigation.

Devidas, said, “I lost my Dubai job as they refuse to give me more leaves. I was needed here in Mumbai to hunt for my child. They had initially helped me but it was difficult to continue the job and take leaves every month.”

Devidas now does some freelance work to meet daily requirements.

While Devidas has put himself together and is trying all possible means to get back his child, Jasmine is still pining for her baby.

“All the time she keeps asking me about the baby and prays that he is safe,” said Devidas.

The couple is planning to visit the hospital on October 24 and the ward where they lost their baby.

“We want to visit the ward where we last saw our son to celebrate his first birthday with a hope that we will meet him soon,” said Devidas.

The Naiks had announced Rs5 lakh for whoever helps them get their son and pasted posters of their baby at various areas in the city like railway stations, bus-stops and hospitals etc.

The story so far
Jasmine Naik (28), a resident of Gorai, gave birth to the baby by C-section on October 23. The next evening, she left her baby boy in her bed of ward no 9 and was walking between the adjacent beds along with her mother when someone stole the child. The Bhoiwada police had released sketches of the kidnapper, but no leads have emerged so far.
