The roads and footpaths of most areas under the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) are in good condition. However, nodes that are developing are not up to the mark, and this may worsen during the monsoons. Most of these developing nodes fall under either the City and Industrial Development Corporation or Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

Developing nodes like Ulwe, Kamothe, Karanjade, Taloja, Roadpali, Old Panvel, and Wahal are reeling with bad road issues. This has been the case for the past several years; despite repair work, the problems keep cropping up. Though the CIDCO has carried out road work in Ulwe, around 20 per cent of the roads can become dangerous during monsoons. Karanjade, Roadpali and Wahal roads may face similar problems.

When Tukaram Mundhe was the Navi Mumbai civic chief, work at Ghansoli node was transferred by CIDCO to NMMC. CIDCO had also promised to pay Rs 78 crore for infrastructure development. The node still lacks basic infrastructure like footpath and roads. While a lot has been done since its transfer in December 2016, residents feel the civic body needs to do more.

In addition to these, there are some villages near the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport that also see water logging during monsoons.

A senior CIDCO official said that contracts for road repair were given much in advance and most of the road work in the developing nodes will be completed in time. "Work on most of the roads in Ulwe node has been completed and the remaining will get done before the monsoons arrive," said the official. He added that monsoon preparation in other roads will be completed, too.
