Work on Dahisar-Andheri Metro to begin in couple of months

Work on Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro on the Western Express Highway will commence in the next couple of months. On Monday, chief secretary Swadhin Kshatriya-headed executive committee gave its nod to issue work orders to three private construction firms — as there are three separate packages to the entire 16.5-km long metro project.

The construction would be undertaken on the western side (space between Service Road and north bound lanes) of Western Express Highway.

According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials, the total construction cost for 16 elevated stations and viaduct along the 16.5-km route is Rs958.37 crore and construction will be completed in 30 months duration from now.

The corridor between Andheri East and New Ashok Nagar in Goregaon, that a total of five metro stations (Andheri East, Shankarwadi, JVLR Junction, Mahanand and new Ashok Nagar) and elevated deck will be constructed by Simplex Infrastructure, as theirs was the lowest bid at Rs348.30 crore.

The another set of six stations, namely Aarey, Dindoshi, Pathan Wadi, Pushpa Park, Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra and the viaduct in between will be erected by J Kumar Infraprojects Ltd. Their quotation was Rs360.21 crore.

The last package was for five metro stations and the elevated viaduct between Magathane, Devipada, National Park, Ovaripada and Dahisar East, this will be designed and built by NCC Ltd at the cost of Rs249.86 crore.
The overall Metro-7 line has an estimated completion cost of Rs6,208 crore with an aim to complete the construction work and commence operations by March 2019.

Smart BKC project gets a nod

Smart Bandra Kurla Complex project too received a nod on Monday, with WiFi, Smart Parking, Citizen Application, Comm and Control Centre and Build Monitoring System being the components for implementation by Reliance Infra (RInfra) for an estimated price of Rs75 crore.
