One of the country's leading train information applications, M-Indicator, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have come together to create a security mechanism for women commuters that would allow the former to act as an interface between the RPF and the commuter in case of an emergency.

The application allows a woman commuter to register with M-indicator and also give details of the near and dear ones that she wants intimated in case of an emergency while travelling. It allows the woman to use the application as a medium to apprise the RPF of her train, coach as well as journey details.

"Once this is done, the commuter is in a way under the digital watch of the RPF. In case she has an emergency and sends an alert, our control room will get to know and we can send immediate help to the commuter," said an RPF official.

Infact the mechanism also has a feature where in case the woman commuter is unable to pick up the call of the near one registered with the application for two consecutive times while travelling between 9pm and 8am, the commuters location as well as train details will be SMSed to the near one so that the latter can also rush in to help.
