A 25-year-old woman who had gone missing in 2014 has been traced by Mumbai crime branch sleuths. The woman's husband had filed a kidnapping case with the police and after working on the case for over a year, the crime branch managed to trace the woman at Ratnagiri. She claimed she fled from her home because of her husband's torture.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Sanjay Saxena, on June 04, 2014, an MIDC resident had filed a complaint with the MIDC Police stating that his wife had gone missing. In September 2016, the case was handed over to the MIDC Unit of Crime Branch.

"We went to the victim's native place in Uttar Pradesh and had also visited her relatives' place at Nalasopara, but got no clue about her. We also made inquiries with two persons whom the victim's husband suspected to be involved in her disappearance," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nisar Tamboli.

As per Senior Inspector, Shrimant Shinde, specific information was received that the woman was spotted at Ratnagiri.

"The woman claimed that her husband used to torture her and hence she fled from her home. She took adequate precaution that she did not get noticed by anyone and lead a life in hiding," said a police source.
