Woman pulled down from train by robber, falls and dies

A 53-year-old woman, Shaila Sopan Shimpi from Parsik Hill area, was pulled down from Amritsar Express around 4am on Tuesday by an unknown person who was trying to rob her handbag. She was standing on the foot board of the train along with her husband. The two were to get down at Thane. On being pulled by the accused, she fell down. A doctor in Thane civil hospital where the victim was taken to declared her dead due to excess bleeding.

The woman and her husband had gone to Sirpur in Dhule for some personal work. The accused escaped from the scene of the crime.

The Thane railway police have registered a case of murder. No one has yet been arrested. A police official said: "We have registered a murder case. But no one has been arrested. We will check the CCTV footage. The accused has used the victim's cell phone once. The phone was in the victim's hand bag.
