A 24-year-old woman journalist of a Hindi channel was allegedly molested by a group of people in Andheri (W) on Monday. According to the DN Nagar police, the incident happened around 3pm, when the reporter along with her cameraman and driver were going to the cameraman's house after covering the festival events.

Rajendra Chawan, senior PI of DN Nagar police, said, "The woman, along with her crew decided to head to the cameraman's house to change their clothes, as they were drenched in water and coloured while covering the festival," As they were approaching the house, the car allegedly hit a boy, who was playing Holi. Following this, a mob gathered outside the car. "Although the boy said he was hit, the driver claims that he had applied the brakes and nobody was hit," added Chawan.

When the trio got down of the car, the crowd that was gathered outside started verbally abusing them. Meanwhile, the woman took out her cell phone and started recording. "A few men snatched the phone from her and abused and misbehaved with her. Both the parties had a verbal duel, which went out of control. A huge ruckus was created," added Chawan. The woman was also allegedly threatened by the mob.

A case was registered under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and illegal assembly.
