Woman held by Trombay police for assaulting and robbing 4-year-old

The Trombay police have arrested a 36-year-old woman for allegedly trying to loot gold earrings from a four-year-old girl on Tuesday evening. The accused woman was identified as Rizwana Begum Mohammed Rais who is said to be a Trombay resident and as per the police reports Rais while trying to loot the earrings later also thrashed the girl by assaulting her.

According to the police, Rais and the victim girl are residents of the same building and on Thursday evening, while both were inside the building elevator, Rais first managed to snatch the earrings from the victim after which, the girl cried and told Rais to let her go from the elevator. Rais later began thrashing the girl and also assaulted her by kicking her on her stomach and abdomen.

"The incident took place when the lift was between the second and fourth floor of the building and the reason why the accused thrashed the girl is yet unknown. The girl knew the accused woman and later the people on the seventh floor waiting for the elevator rescued the girl. The accused was booked under section 394 of the IPC," said a police officer.
