The victim, in her statement, has alleged that on February 29 after her father left for work she went to take shower. While she was taking shower, her stepmother came near the bathroom and started knocking on the door.
Based on the complaint of an 18-year-old girl, Kalachowki police on Sunday booked her stepmother for allegedly molesting and outraging her modesty. The police have recorded the girl's statement and are carrying out an inquiry into the allegations.
The victim, in her statement, has alleged that on February 29 after her father left for work she went to take shower. While she was taking shower, her stepmother came near the bathroom and started knocking on the door.
"She kept banging and demanded that I come out immediately. When I refused, she kicked the door due to which the bolt gave in and the door opened," said the victim.
She added: "She came inside the bathroom and touched my chest inappropriately and made vulgar and abusive comments. She later dragged me to the common gallery of our building and threatened that if I will trouble her again she would strip me naked and parade me in the colony. My cousin sister who tried to help me was also threatened."
The victim further claimed that she was scared after the incident and did not utter a word to her father or any relative about the incident and also requested her cousin sister to keep mum.
However on victim's 18th birthday — which was on March 8 — her cousin sister told everything to the victim's father after which they approached the police station and registered a complaint.
The victim also told the police that this was not the first time that her stepmother had allegedly touched her inappropriately. In 2013 when she was around 15-year-old, her stepmother had allegedly touched her inappropriately while she was taking shower. "I found her behaviour strange but as she was my mother I ignored the incident," said the victim.
In her statement, she also said that initially her stepmother would take care of the victim and her brother. However, two months into the marriage, she started misbehaving with them.
"She would make us do all the household work and would give us stale food to eat. She also threatened us that in case we uttered anything to anyone," said the victim.
She added: "One day my stepmother hit my younger brother with scissors due to which he suffered serious injuries. After the incident, fearing for my brother's safety, my father sent him to Khadavli's Military school."
Talking about the case, senior police inspector Dilip Ugale said: "We have registered an offence of outraging modesty of a woman and molestation against the stepmother. Further probe is on."
