Buying a house in the city is everyone's dream, but thanks to a Navi Mumbai-based builder, Space Realtors and Builder, this dream turned into a nightmare for Canta Dadlaney — a media professional who bought a 1BHK apartment at Kamothe three years ago.
According to Dadlaney, the inferior quality of materials used for construction has damaged her costly furniture and the entire apartment is in bad shape. "I approached the builder but no concrete help was extended. I invested my hard earned money to buy this house. Now, I am repenting the decision and spending sleepless nights to deal with the problem," she said.
She added: "When I took possession in August 2012, I was surprised to see that the polishing on the flooring, bathroom door knobs, the work in the balcony etc had not been completed. Besides, a huge wet patch has developed on the walls leading to the growth of fungus."
On complaining about the issues, the builder sent a person who did nothing but hogwash, claimed Dadlaney. Meanwhile, the developer registered the society and handed it over to the management committee. "The builder has not fulfilled any of his commitments like fire insurance and share certificates. Now, builder is saying that he has nothing to do with the building," she said.
Dadlaney said that everything in her apartment is of inferior quality. She also lodged a complaint with Cidco managing director Bushan Gagrani, but no action has been taken against the builder so far.
On being asked about the problems developed, Jairam Patel of Space Realtors said: "We have handed over the society to the committee. Now, the housing society is charging maintenance and taking care of the building. We have nothing to do with this apartment now. However, we are ready to help out if the managing committee of the society asks us to. We sold 91 flats in this building. So, there is no question of inferior quality materials being used for construction."
