In what could be a rare case of drugging inside a busy local train, a 26-year-old Bandra resident was allegedly sedated and robbed by a burkha-clad woman on Monday evening on the train.

According to police, Nikita Pawar, a resident of a Government Colony, works within a private company in Malad. On Monday, around 8.40 pm, Pawar had boarded a Churchgate local from platform number 2 of Malad Railway Station. Around 11.20 pm, GRP and Railway Protection Force officials found her unconscious in the second class compartment reserved for female commuters.

"After giving her first aid, we informed her brother Hitesh Pawar about her. He then rushed her to Bhabha hospital in Bandra. On Tuesday morning, Pawar filed a complaint, stating that her laptop, a gold chain and a ring are missing. A case was then registered with the Borivali Railway Police in this regard," said a GRP official.

Pawar also explained the episode, which left the police baffled. "As per Pawar, when she got onto the ladies compartment, a burkha-clad woman came in and brushed her palm on Pawar's face and apologised and rushed in to find a sit. Pawar later started feeling dizzy and gained consciousness only in a hospital. She suspects that it was probably that the burkha-clad woman who had sprayed chloroform on her face to make her unconscious," said the officer.

"We have come across several cases wherein passengers, mostly women, are drugged in trains. We are checking CCTV to ascertain where did that burkha-clad woman get off the train. Since her face was covered, it will be difficult for us to track her.," said the officer.
