Witness: Alcohol found in Salman Khan's blood sample after mishap

The prosecution on Wednesday examined one of its strong witness who informed the sessions court that there was presence of alcohol in Salman's blood sample which the police had sent for analysis after the actor's car met with an accident. The witness said there was presence of 62 milligram of ethyl alcohol in the 100 ml of blood sample which he had examined.

The prosecution had called chemical analyzer, Bhala Shankar, from the forensic department, who had examined the blood sample of the actor. "I was sent a blood vial from the JJ hospital. I kept it in the fridge and examined it on the next day, October 1, 2002. I used modified diffusion oxidation method to analyze the blood. There was four ml of blood in the vial. After conducting the first test, I also conducted Morpholin test on the blood, and the result was found positive. I then analysed the percentage of alcohol in blood. As per the report, I found that there was 62 mg of ethyl alcohol present in the 100 ml of blood," said the expert. When questioned about the normal amount of alcohol, he said 30 mg of ethyl alcohol can be found in the blood, "However the percentage can go up to 40-45 mg during medication," Shankar said.

Bhal Shankar was also examined by the defence advocate, when Khan's defence lawyer pointed out to the court that the doctor, who had collected the Khan's blood sample was untraceable thus informing the court that the doctor would be the right person to inform the court about the number of samples collected and sent to the lab.

Special public prosecutor, Pradeep Gharat, speaking to dna said, "Wednesday's evidence supports prosecutions case, now we can only hope for good." The court while adjourning the matter to December 15, informed the court that the court wants to finish the trial by the end December.

According to the prosecution, the actor in September 2002 had allegedly rammed his car on the pavement dwellers who were sleeping outside a bakery in Bandra, killing one and injuring four.

Meanwhile, the prosecution also examine a motor vehicle inspector who had on the day, when Khan allegedly rammed the vehicle had examined the car. While cross examining the witness, the defence lawyer questioned him if he had undergone a proper training to examine imported vehicle, to which he replied in negative.
