With the winter session of Maharashtra legislative assembly set to begin in Nagpur on Monday, the family of Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra, is doubly excited. Not just that he is the chief minister, but also that they can watch him function directly in the House in their home town.

The chief minister's mother, Sarita, wife Amruta and daughter Divija will come to see the House function on Monday. Amruta's parents, Charu and Sharad Ranade, and brother Gaurav too will join them.
"We are yet to get the schedule. Anyway we will be watching the House function from the viewers' gallery. My mother-in-law and my parents will be very happy to see him," said Amruta.

The Fadnavis and Ranade families have until now shunned limelight. They however, follow the news on television and lap up all that's written about Devendra.

"All of us read news items that have his name mentioned," said Amruta, adding that she was closely following the news on drought-prone areas, Shivaji memorial, Balasaheb Thackeray memorial and all other recent political developments. "My mother-in-law too reads them, especially his statements," Mrs Fadnavis said.

On Monday, the family is planning to spend at least one to two hours in the House and watch the proceedings. They expect an "uproar" in the House. "I will be there in the morning for some time, and will then go to my workplace from there," said Amruta.

The Fadnavis family has not shifted to the official residence of the CM as yet. Even in Nagpur they have not shifted to Ramgiri. "Only Devendra goes to Ramgiri after meeting people at home. We will shift to Mumbai in the first week of January. Divija has secured admission in a school in South Mumbai," she said.

Asked how is Divija was reacting to her father's busy schedule, Amruta said her daughter now knew that her father was working for the people and that Modiji had given him a very big responsibility. However, she is too small to understand what a chief minister means.
