Rubbishing speculation that Shiv Sena leaders are set to quit the saffron party and join the rival Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) or the Congress or Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has said that he will not allow any “anarchy” in his party.

Uddhav made this statement in an interview published in Sena’s mouthpiece, Saamna on Tuesday.

“The Shiv Sena is strong. The Shiv Sainik is staunch. No one is disgruntled…” said Uddhav, while seeking to play down the split in the party in Nashik and reports of former legislator Parshuram Uparkar planning to quit the Shiv Sena.

Uddhav also rubbished claims made by MNS legislator Bala Nandgaonkar that 40 important leaders of the Shiv Sena were in touch with the rival party.

“…even if one [leader] joins hands with you, I will felicitate you publicly… Just because you are bikau (saleable) it does not mean that the world is saleable,” Uddhav said, going on to point out that MNS’s legislator from Aurangabad, Harshavardhan Jadhav, had attacked the MNS leadership’s style of functioning.

He also warned the ruling allies in the state, Congress and NCP, against poaching on his party’s leaders and cadre, warning that any such attempts on their part would only boomerang on their parties.

Uddhav said he would take the lead in setting up a memorial for his late father if “Sainiks expressed the sentiment” and added that the “impressive” memorial would seek to keep the senior Thackeray’s ideas alive.

The newly elected party president said that the Shiv Sena was managing to recover from Thackeray’s death and added that this was reflected in the way in which the party had driven Pakistani hockey players away from Mumbai.

He claimed that the Shiv Sena would come to power in the state assembly polls which are scheduled for next year.

Uddhav said the delay in getting a nod for Thackeray’s samadhi at Shivaji Park was due to administrative and legal reasons.
