Admitting that there are many complains of irregularities in the draft development plan (DP) of Mumbai, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that a decision on whether to scrap it could be taken only after the final report of the committee, headed by the chief secretary, is received.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's DP is in news for irregularities of all sorts. Chief minister Fadnavis informed that since the chief secretary has sought some more time to go deeper into some of the issues in the draft DP, the government has decided to give him not more than 15-20 days. Meanwhile, the government has accepted the interim report given by the committee, he said.

Earlier, speaking in the assembly, Fadnavis informed that the interim report shows a number of irregularities and complaints about the draft DP, such as places like Haji Ali, Jehangir Art Gallery or Aarey Colony are not mentioned in the heritage list and there are many complains pertaining to roads as suggested in the DP.

Fadnavis said that in the matter of increasing the deadline for suggestions and objections or scrapping it, the committee is fully aware that it would have to seek opinion from the advocate general before doing so and that is the reason we would have to wait till the committee submits its final report.
