Will declare pending results by Oct 16: Mumbai University

The University has promised that all results, including the ones that are pending due to missing answer sheets

After a first-year law student threatened to go on an indefinite strike on Wednesday, Mumbai University officials said it would declare all the pending results by October 16.

Amey Malshe, a second-year law student had recently written to the university Vice-Chancellor Dr Devanand Shinde stating he would begin an indefinite fast if all the pending results are not announced by Wednesday. the university officials promised Malshe that all students will be given their results by next 5-6 days.

"The University has promised that all results, including the ones that are pending due to missing answer sheets, would be declared in the next 6 days. If that does not happen, I would begin my fast " said Malshe.

The university is yet to declare the results of close to 4,000 students, of which 1,600 are cases wherein papers are misplaced, and the remaining results have been held in reserve due to various reasons.

Meanwhile, the university's academic council on Wednesday asked the Deans of faculties to reconsider the hike in examination fees. The students were asked to pay Rs 1,560 this year, against the old fee of Rs 650 for every exam. The decision to rethink the fees came after a series of protests from student groups.
