The Thane police have registered a case of cheating, impersonation, molestation, and abduction against a man, identified as Anandroop Banerji, who, according to the complainant, has claimed to be from the CBI. Banerji’s whereabouts are yet to be ascertained. According to the Kalyan-based complainant, Banerji and she are married.

The matter was brought to light by the family of the woman, who was allegedly forcefully confined in office by Banerji and her employer for two and a half months. She was hospitalised after she visited her house in July-end.

Following this, Banerji allegedly threatened the girl and her family and took her back from the hospital. “Banerjee has not presented himself yet for the inquiry. The matter is still under investigation,” said senior police inspector, Ramrao Suryavanshi, Rabodi police station. DNA’s calls to the victim’s employer Sippy Patwari went unanswered.
