Recently, Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, faced a barrage of criticisms, after a video of her clicking seated on the edge of the deck of the Mumbai-Goa cruise ship, went viral on social media on Sunday. In the face of criticisms and trolls, Amruta, on Monday, said that she was ready to apologise for it.

She, however, maintained that the spot where she was sitting was safe.

"The spot where I clicked selfie was not dangerous because there were two more steps below," she said.

"If anyone thinks I have made some mistake, then I apologise for it. I want to tell the youth that they should not take excessive risk to take a selfie," she added.

Amruta had allegedly ignored safety protocols and crossed the danger zone on the deck of India's first cruise liner Angriya. Amruta, along with her husband was attending its inauguration on October 20.

However, this is not the first time that the Chief Ministers of the state had to face embarrassment because of their relatives.

In March 1986, Shivajirao Nilangekar-Patil had to resign after a 10-month tenure as Chief Minister his daughter's marks in her MD examinations were found to have been fudged. His resignation came after Bombay High Court passed strictures against him on the same.

In 1998, Manohar Joshi had to resign after the High Court slammed him for handing over prime government land in Pune to his son-in-law Girish Vyas for building a housing complex. The High Court passed a verdict declaring the housing complex illegal and Manohar Joshi was replaced by Narayan Rane as the chief minister.

Ashok Chavan had to resign after the Adarsh Housing Society scam rocked the state capital. Ashok Chavan's mother-in-law owned three flats in this society. Chavan resigned on November 9, 2010.
