I was a resident of Gujarat until 5th grade, after which I moved to Mumbai. By that time, this city had managed to attain its popularity on a global platform. When I used to travel to other places, it was a matter of pride when people learnt that I belong to Mumbai.

In the last decade, because of some interventions, things have changed drastically in Mumbai. Mumbaikars now wish to get away from here. Despite everything, no matter how many hardships this city has faced, from the deluge of July 26 to the terrible bomb blasts, Mumbai manages to emerge stronger than ever before. This city has always managed to provide something to everyone and I'm happy to be living here.

I've been living in Mumbai for as long as I can remember. And if I had to point out one memory of this city, which I cherish, I don't think I can single out a particular experience. Mumbai is a busy city. But that's, in a way, a great thing about this place. Here, people aren't laidback compared to people from other cities. Mumbai is very efficient as well. In other cities, people aren't that conscious of what they should do, but that's not the same about Mumbai. Look at South Mumbai...it has retained its charm and is planned well. Another aspect of Mumbai is its education system; the kids here have many choices when it comes to education.

The theme of the UN commemoration 2014 for older persons is "Leaving No One Behind: Promoting a Society for All".
