Former Union minister and Rajsthan Pradesh Congress committee president Sachin Pilot on Thursday questioned the advertisement campaign spending crores of rupees while completing two years in office by Narendra Modi government when 11 states in country were facing worst ever drought.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan head quarters of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Pilot said that Modi government has failed on all counts and has proved its insensitivity yet again with grand celebration of completing two years in office. "People of the country have not yet understood as to what was the point in spending so much money to tell the people that their own government is functioning," he said.

Pilot questioned the very presence of celebrities for the function to mark two years in office and said that the very fact that Modi government needs celebrities has proved that it has not delivered. He pointed out that it had promised to provide jobs to two crore people and has been able to provide the same to less than two lakh persons. He said that BJP has cheated the people of country with tall promises which were impossible to meet and is now fooling people with advertisement campaigns on false achievements.

He pointed out that despite the fact BJP government is ruling in the state as well as at Centre, the farmers in the state are committing suicides. "As many as 3,228 farmers have committed suicides in Maharashtra in 2015 and both the governments have failed to provide any sigh of relief to farmers. And the money being spend on advertisement campaigns could have been utilised for farmers and people would have welcomed it." Pilot said.

"BJP had promised to bring back black money and had also assured to deposit Rs15 lakh each in the bank accounts of all Indians, instead it has allowed Vijay Mallya to flee who has duped banks with Rs9,000 crore and is trying to save Lalit Modi who has duped the country," he said.

He questioned Union government and prime minister Modi that what was the need for him to completely change the land acquisition bill which was passed in the Parliament. He said that when Modi was claiming that he would not allow any corruption, there was Bhoomi scam in Rajsthan and Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh under his nose.

Shiv Sena should leave government

Criticizing Shiv Sena for its criticism of state government every other day from its mouthpiece Saamna, Pilot said that this criticism shows that BJP is not listening to its alliance partners whether it is in state or at Centre. Advising Shiv Sena to quit the government, he said that criticising government every day and remaining as a part of the government was meaningless and Sena should leave the government.
