Suburban train services on Western Railway were delayed by nearly 30 minutes on Saturday afternoon due to signal failure at Andheri. "Around 12 noon there was a problem with signal on all the six lines in between Vile Parle and Andheri," said a spokesperson of Western Railway.

He said that by 12.15 pm services on the slow line were restored, followed by harbour and fast lines.

Stating the signal failure as a "minor fault" the spokesperson said that trains were running late between 10 and 15 minutes.

However, commuters said the delay was about 30 minutes and trains were running without their schedule and the indicators were reset on "00:00". Even the stations and platforms were crowded due to delay in the services.

In order to inform other commuters people were tweeting to give updates about the affected services.

"Thanks to micro blogging sites like twitter, I avoided travelling in train on Saturday afternoon and preferred taking BEST bus to head to Kandivali," said Javed Khan, a resident of Mahim.

In the last one week Central Railway train services were stranded due to rains and flooding but this time inconvenience was caused to people without any rainfall.
