The Cyber Crime Police have arrested the owner of a website for allegedly putting up the leaked censor copy of Bollywood movie Udta Punjab on his site and on torrent. Officials of the censor board and the production house are still in police radar as officers are investigating who leaked the copy and how.

The arrested person has been identified as Dipak Kumar (25), hailing from Delhi, who was nabbed on Wednesday.

The police said after getting confirmation of Kumar's involvement behind the leak, he was taken into custody. As per the complaint lodged by the legal teams of the production houses of the movie, the copy was leaked online on June 15 and soon after its download links went viral, enabling thousands to download the movie illegally.

"Preliminary interrogation of Kumar revealed that two separate links of torrent websites were made by user robby007. On downloading the movie, it was revealed that the first censor copy of the movie was stolen and uploaded on torrent. Our probe revealed that www.allzmovies.in had uploaded the links," said a crime branch officer.

"We are probing whether someone from the team associated with the movie or with the censor board had helped Kumar. As per the doubts raised by the production team in its complaint, members of the Central Board of Film Certification are behind the leak because the leaked version had "FOR CENSOR" notice on it."

Deputy commissioner of police, Cyber Crime, Sachin Patil said, "We believe that there are more people responsible for the crime; Kumar was arrested after diligent efforts and investigations. The accused professionally and illegally uploads movies on film sites as well as social networking sites and ensures they go viral by preparing links with downloading options. We are still investigating the case and our inquiries with the censor board and production teams are going on."

After the movie had got leaked online, the film fraternity had spoken out against piracy on social media and appealed to citizens to watch the movie in theatres only.
