Yuva Sena leader Aditya Thackeray was the chief guest at Bhumiputra ground in sector 23, Koparkhairne on December 25. The party workers started the rally from Airoli toll naka in sector 5 to Koparkhairane. MLA Eknath Shinde and Navi Mumbai district leader Vijay Chaugule accompanied Thackeray on the rally.

Flaunting saffron flags, 700-800 bikes and 100-200 vehicles belonging to party workers followed junior Thackeray. This has shown the preparedness of the party ahead of the polls. Thackeray is confident of enjoying similar power in Navi Mumbai in the days to come.

Thackeray also Navi Mumbai residents to vote for Shiv Sena candidates. A cricket tournament was held, too, on December 21 and 22. A day-night tournament, it saw participants from Navi Mumbai, who divided themselves into 16 teams. The tournament was organised by Praveen Mhatre, the president of the Yuva Sena in the Airoli assembly constituency. The final match took place on December 25, between the Turbhe and Sanpada teams, who gave tough competition to each other. Before moving ahead for the finals, Thackeray was on the ground playing cricket. While he batted, Chaugule bowled.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on the same day and Thackeray handed a cash prize of Rs2,00,000 to the winning team (Turbhe), while the runners-up team (Sanpada) took home Rs1,00,000, along with a trophy.
