The Fadnavis government has been successful in proving that it's different from the earlier government at least when it comes to a handful important projects like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial at Arabian Sea and MIHAN (multi-modal international cargo hub and airport) project.

Asked whether his government would only keep on announcing various schemes or would also start implementing them, senior minister Vinod Tawde said: "Our government is definitely different from the earlier one in more ways than one. Just the example of one memorial would make the difference clear. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial was announced in the 2004 state budget. However, the Congress-NCP government failed to do anything about it in the last ten years despite the centre too being governed by Congress-led UPA government." Tawde said the foundation stone of this memorial would be laid on February 19.

The same is the case with MIHAN project, which has been pending for years. He pointed out that soon after assuming office, Fadnavis had held a special meeting and put the project on fast-track mode.

On Dr Ambedkar memorial in Indu Mill premises, Tawde said the government had given an undertaking that other than this memorial, there would be no other construction on the premises. He said the foundation laying ceremony of this memorial would be held on April 14 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar.

Tawde also said his government was different from the previous one in its approach to taking decisions in public interest. Though he was the minister for culture, "It was veteran composer Yashwant Dev who presented the Lata Mangeshkar Award to veteran singer Krishna Kalle. I witnessed the ceremony from the first row. An artiste should be felicitated by another artiste, not a minister."
