After brutally killing his wife and chopping her body into pieces and drinking her blood, Girish Pote, 35, is now having sleepless nights.

On Tuesday, Pote killed his French wife Madhuwanti Pathak, 33, at their 14th floor residence in Bhayander after she wanted to go back to France with their child after coming to know about his affair with a bar girl.

Pote, who is now in the custody of Navghar police, told the cops that whether he is asleep or awake, he can see his wife dying a slow death. He said he had planned to give her a painful death but she died easily after he strangulated her.

“Girish wanted to set up a restaurant with the bar girl and needed cash. But Madhuwanti refused to part with her money and decided to move back to France. This led to fights between them,” said police sources.

The gruesome crime is haunting him in the lcok-up.

“The sequence of events flashes in front of him and he says he can hear his wife’s voice. And can see the way he cut the body into pieces. He said his mind went blank after he chopped the body. He then started crying,” said a senior police officer.

He told the police that he loved his wife a lot. It was only after he met the bar girl that his relationship with his wife started souring.

“He keeps changing his statement. We will ask him to recreate the crime. We questioned the shocked bar girl but her involvement has been ruled out,” said Dinkar Pingle, senior police inspector, Navghar police station.

Family disowns killer
Girish Pote’s brother and father have disowned him. The police have recorded statements of his family members after they came down from Thane to the Navghar police station. The couple’s two-year-old son is with Pote’s family. “Girish and his brother did not get along. Girish left home in 2010 and married Madhuwanti. Girish’s father and brother said they want to distance themselves from him,” said Dinkar Pingle, senior police inspector.
