The man who allegedly raped and killed his 17-year-old daughter has been asking the police to allow him to chop her body into pieces.
Ramesh Rajbhar and his friend Shiv Chandra Rajbhar carried out the brutal crime because the girl had eloped and married a man from another community. The two were arrested on Tuesday.
On October 31, both the accused dragged the girl to a jungle in Mira Road and raped her.
“Ramesh and Shiv raped the minor thrice and tried inserting a stick in her private parts to give her a painful death but stopped after the girl cried out in pain. Later, they strangulated her to death.
Even after she died, Ramesh raped her and then covered the body with dried leaves and fled,” said a police officer.
Ramesh had planned the murder and he roped in Shiv, a resident of Mira Road, saying that he would be blessed if he saved his community from getting ‘defamed’.
Showing no remorse, Ramesh demanded that the police hand over the body to him. “He asked us to hand over the body to him as he wanted to chop it into pieces. He said “beti se zyada muje meri izzat pyari hai” (I love my honour more than my daughter),” said Vilas Mate, investigation officer, Kashimira police station.
The man with whom the girl eloped from Komalpur village in Uttar Pradesh is still missing. The police fear that he might have killed himself after the incident or he might have gone into hiding out of fear as he would be booked for rape if the girl was pregnant.
“It is not yet confirmed whether the girl was pregnant and we are waiting for the report. We will book the man if the report is positive because she is a minor. We have sent the girl’s clothes to the forensic lab,” said Mate.
The girl had tried convincing her family members about marrying the man. “After stiff opposition for her family members, she eloped with the man and they came to Uttan in Bhayander. Back home, the village panchayat and the locals criticised the incident. The girl’s father vowed to either bring the girl back home or to give her a painful death,” said a police officer.
