Investigators probing the alleged gatecrash by Anil Mishra, a suspended BJP activist, at chief minister Devendra Fadnavis's swearing-in ceremony at Wankhede stadium on October 31, believe that Mishra had taken a spontaneous decision to sneak inside the venue in the garb of being a private secretary of Union law minister Ravishankar Prasad. The police are also making inquiry about the person who was clicking Mishra's photographs inside the venue.

"Mishra would have made a spontaneous move by following Ravishankar Prasad. He has been associated with the BJP and claimed to be a private secretary to gain access inside," said a senior police officer.

During interrogation Mishra has told the police that he has a passion to get himself photographed with celebrities and politicians. "We are inquiring about the person who was reportedly clicking Mishra's photographs with the politicians inside the venue," said Rajendra Chavan, assistant commissioner of police, Colaba division.

Mishra has been booked under sections 170 (personating a public servant) and 447 (punishment for criminal trespass) of Indian Penal Code and is in police custody till November 11.

BJP activist Sanjay Bedia had approached the police alleging that Mishra gained unauthorised access to PM Narendra Modi and Fadnavis on the day of the ceremony. The special branch has confirmed that no VIP pass was allotted to Mishra for attending the event.

"Mishra also clicked his photographs with other dignitaries like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Uddhav Thackeray. He later uploaded them on social media," claimed Bedia.

Mishra claimed to be an advisor to Food Corporation of India, a central government organisation. "Mishra, a resident of Malad (E), was booked in January for using a Government of India logo on his car," Dedia said.
