The Wadala TT police on Sunday arrested a 23-year-old man identified as 'Bhoot Uncle' by a 4-year-old girl whom he had raped on Saturday evening. The girl helped the police with the description of the accused, after which he was arrested from his home in MHADA building near Bhakti Park in Wadala.

According to the Wadala TT police, the accused was apprehended after the minor described and addressing him as 'bhoot uncle'. The name of the accused, who lives in the same building as the girl, has been withheld to protect the minor's identity.
Suhas Garud, senior police inspector, Wadala TT described how the cops cracked the case, saying: "We formed a team to nab the accused according to the description given by the girl. Our sketch artist created an image which matched the facial features of a resident of the same building where the girl lives."
Garud also said that the cops then picked up the accused on Sunday evening, adding: "He has been living with his family in the same building, and initially, no one suspected him."
According to the police, between 10.30 pm and 11 pm on Saturday, the accused allegedly took the child to an isolated spot and sexually abused her. He then dropped her near her house, before anyone could suspect anything amiss.
"The girl kept crying since Saturday night, but her mother didn't think much of it, and put her to bed. On Sunday, when she saw her daughter's private parts bleeding, she became suspicious. The girl then narrated the incident to her, after which the mother reported the matter to us," added the senior inspector.
The accused has been booked by the Wadala TT police for rape, kidnapping and under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
