VJTI students are here to bring a smile on your face

To find out what problems common man face daily, students of VJTI decided to come on streets. This act was a part of their Technovanza festival. This year, Mission Mumbai the initiative incorporated a social cause Smile Mumbai.

In this cause, students served energy drink to the government employees like the BMC workers. traffic police, who during festive seasons work 24x7.

Sanket Shah, Third year electronic engineering student, said, "Around 20 of us went on field and spoke with people. We took their videos and uploaded it on YouTube about the problems they face daily. We thought that we must bring a smile on those people, who give up on their family and work 24x7, to ensure that we have a good day. Nobody even stops to ask them if they are fine. So, we decided to distribute energy drinks to them. We are also planning to visit old age homes."

Another student, Ankita Potnis, said, "It was so satisfying to see a smile on these people faces. We took proper permission. We visited the places near our college. Around 150 bottles of energy drink were distributed to 125 people."

Students will organise three more drives one on woman empowerment. In this, students have decided to visit an NGO Srujan, Chandivli, where they plan to give them marketing lessons to sell their products. Government hospitals is next on their agenda where they will show authorities a technology they have invented to diagnose sleep apnea syndrome (sleep disorder).

Pranav Ipkyal, student, said, "The three other initiatives will happen soon. We plan to visit the NGO to teach women marketing skills. In government hospitals, we showcase a technology to diagnose sleep disorders in patients. Another interesting technology that we have come up with is eye controlled wheelchair. This would be taken to an old age home."
