Verdict has increased faith in judiciary: Mah CM

Stating that the Kopardi verdict would prove to be a deterrent for miscreants in the society, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday that the Kopardi judgement has led to increasing the faith of society at large in judiciary.

Expressing satisfaction over the capital punishment for perpetrators of the heinous crime of rape and murder in Kopardi, Fadnavis said that this incident was highly condemnable. He said that reaction of this incident had evoked in entire state and investigating agencies immediately completed the investigation.

Stating that his government decided to give this case to Ujjwal Nikam taking into account the seriousness and sensitivity of the case, Fadnavis said that the judicial process also was completed in record time despite the fact that defence lawyers deployed delaying tactics time and again.

Welcoming the verdict, chairperson for the State Women's Commission Vijaya Rahatkar said that this verdict has delivered justice for the victim and her family.
