A day after the Kongaon police in Bhiwandi registered a case against five directors of Best Deal Television Private Limited, including actor Shilpa Shetty her husband Raj Kundra, for allegedly cheating a Goregaon-based businessman, the Indian Online Vendors Association (IOVA) has issued instructions to over 2,000 members to come forward in the case. They have been asked to register their complaints against the channel at the nearest police station.

Bhalotia alleged that Best Deal Television Private Limited failed to pay him money for products he sold to them. According to the police, Bhalotia has a manufacturing unit of bedsheets at MIDC in Bhiwandi. He allegedly sold bedsheets to Best Deal Television Private Limited through a home shopping channel, from July 2015 to August 2016. He stated that despite repeated notices sent to the company, they failed to give him a proper response and defaulted on payments.

“I met Raj Kundra several times at in Mumbai and he assured us that money will flow into the channel after a certain period of time. The company shut down their office and refused to pay us. There are several such vendors who have contacted me to help them file cases against the company”, Bhalotia said.

Kundra on Friday issued a statement, “The vendor is misusing his connections at various stations. This is a civil matter and an abuse of the law. We have tight contracts signed and, on the contrary, the vendor owes us money for not fulfilling orders. Best Deal, unfortunately, wound up due to the business failing, and we are following the laws of the land to close the various matters properly.” Kongaon police have sent notices to all five directors seeking replies to their queries.
