Uttar Pradesh youth who jumped off sea link might be frustrated: Cops

Five days after a 21-year-old native of Uttar Pradesh jumped off Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL), doctors at Sion Hospital said he has recovered and is able to communicate.

Nikhar Sahu, who had jumped off from BWSL in a bid to commit suicide, was found alive more than four hours later in the sea. According to the police, Sahu had come to Mumbai six months ago from UP for a job.

Sahu’s brother had told the police that he had lost his job recently. Gajanan Desurkar, senior police inspector of Worli Police Station said, “He was working in a Mumbai-based mall but had lost the job recently. Since then, he was looking for a new job. The brother also stated that Sahu must be frustrated, which led to this step.He would stay with his cousin brothers in Navi Mumbai”

“He is still admitted to the IRCU ward but his condition has improved a lot. He is now able to speak. He is recovering but he is out of danger,” said assistant medical officer of Sion hospital. 

On Thursday, the victim had taken a cab from Bandra and had stopped the cab in the middle of the sea link stating that he wants to click a selfie. However, four hours later, Sahu was found floating at Chaitya Bhoomi in Dadar. The fishermen who spotted him immediately fished him out and informed the police.
