In order to make the learning of other languages easier for students, the teachers at Anjuman-I-Islam School in Bandra have started making songs out of poems in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

Fatima Khan, a student of Anjuman-I-Islam School in Bandra, who struggles to learn Marathi poems says, "It has now become easy for us to learn and understand the poems. We are loving the songs."

The school has appointed a music teacher for students between class 5 and 8, to help them memorise the poems in a method the students enjoy and help them score better marks in the language subjects.

While it's only a pilot project yet, it is already helping the students to study better. Earlier, the language barrier they were facing was making it difficult for the students to read and learn big words in the languages.

Saba Patel, principal, said, "We have appointed a music teacher who will help them give a rhythm to the poems which can be sung easily. While the first session was conducted with the students two weeks ago, they are being seen happily learning the songs and are singing them while revising in the class." If the initiative progresses successfully, the school plans to implement the same in other institutes too.

One of the students added, "It is a good idea because it helps us in giving one line answers during the exams. We are also enjoying the singing and creating our own tunes to learn. The songs are making it easier for us to pronounce difficult words. This will also help us while giving our oral exams."

According to the school authority, students are showing an interest in the project and are interacting by giving a good response. Patel added, "Music helps to fill the gap between understanding and communicating the language in an easy way. Students are giving an action-wise response. We are happy with the students' energy."
