Foodies, gear up! The 12th edition of India's biggest culinary event — The UpperCrust Food & Wine Show — is all set to start from Friday at the World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade

The unique trade fair will feature some of the finest products and services from the food and beverage industry. This year, visitors can taste their way around through a range of teas inclusive of Chado Tea, sauces and dips from American Garden, Foodhall's premium range of hampers, a variety of international food brands from Tree of Life, frozen food brands Cambay and Chevon, and, for the first time, Kerrygold Cheese from Ireland, among a host of other brands and items.

For the wine lovers, there's an alley featuring Reveilo, Sula and Rio, among others.

This year will also see the unravelling of three concepts for upcoming professionals as well as established brands — the Gourmet Junction with names such as Spotted Cow Fromagerie, food kits from Chef's Basket, inventive teas from Tea Trunk, and related ones in the Health Corner and Food Bloggers' Bazaar.

The three-day extravaganza, which is expected to see over 1.4 lakh visitors, will also cater to music lovers. And there's also the Food Court which will have on offer Jafferbhai's Delhi Darbar, Noor Mohammadi, Kutumbh Sakhi for their homemade range of ladoos, puranpolis and other Maharashtrian savouries, Mexican treats from Sanchos, Chinese stir fries from Wok In The Box, and Bengali delicacies from Bong Bong.

Another event highlight in store for the visitors will be the Live Kitchen, with the city's most sought-after chefs displaying their culinary skill and sharing their secrets, and dishes. This year, there will be demos by Harpal Singh Sokhi (Ching's Secret), Bhairav Singh Rajput (Novotel), Varun Inamdar, Shantanu Gupte and Shailendra Singh (Food Food), Anurag Barthwal (Trident BKC), Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal (APB Cook Studio), Michael Swamy (Cottage Chef Culinaire), Adriano Baldasssare (Oberoi) and Andrea Fidora (Monin).

Visitors will also get to see Nilesh Limaye (Trikaya), Indrajit Saha (Sofitel), Vikas Seth (Sancho's), Viraf Patel (Café Zoe) and the first woman to ever participate, Kshama Prabhu (The White Owl), slug it out for the coveted title in the UpperCrust Foodhall Celebrity Chef's Mystery Basket Cookery Contest, which will be judged by a gourmet panel.

To sum it up, the heart and soul of the event, conceptualiser and curator Farzana Contractor says, "Time to spice up your life once again. The UpperCrust Food Show, everyone's favourite food and wine event gets better! We are happy and proud to have put India on the world culinary scape. If you love food — eating, cooking and entertaining — you just can't afford to miss out on this."

The theme for the inauguration on Friday at 10.30am is Power Women in the World of Food. Contractor will be flanked by UpperCrust cover girls and power women, gourmet entrepreneur Perizaad Zorabian and chocolatier Zeba Kohli.
