Two days after a 24-year-old art teacher committed suicide for being jobless for the past years, triggering massive protests by teachers, member of legislative council Kapil Patil visited victim Ramid Sayyed's family in Nanded on Sunday.

According to Sayyed's family, he was had been declared a surplus teacher and was fighting a case in the Bombay High Court to get back his job. He had filed a petition against the state government and others in May. While the result had come out, the state was yet to reinstate him. This pushed him to depression and eventually take the extreme step, alleged the MLC.

Patil said, "We met the family of the teacher. His father has written to the police seeking arrest of the education minister and principal secretary on the charge of abetment to suicide. But cops are deliberately delaying the process. I will raise this issue in the session on Monday so that the deceased teacher's family gets justice."

Meanwhile the teachers have decided to wear black band to mark the protest on the surplus issue.
