Despite being in politics, Devendra Fadnavis loves singing old Kishore Kumar songs and loves eating Aalu-Pohe the most. He has played almost all the games during his school and college days but loves cricket the most.
Fadnavis recalls, "I always used to tell my mother that others eat for living and I live for eating. I love eating and I love all kinds of food. But I love Aalu-Pohe the most — it's my favourite dish."
His favourite actor is Vinod Khanna and he likes Rekha as an actress. Even though he does not get time to see movies because of his party work, he enjoys singing Hindi movie songs. He generally likes to sing Kishore Kumar's 'happy' songs.
Fadnavis also loves driving and at a stretch he had driven his car with friends to and from between Nagpur and Aurangabad in 24 hours.
On his better half ...
His wife Amruta is working with Axis Bank as an associate vice-president. "When I got married, my wife did not know what an MLC does, since she did not know anything about politics. Now she takes part in my campaign and works in my constituency," said Fadnavis.
On his little princess...
the only worry for Fadnavis during the campaign was how to satisfy his five-year-old daughter Divija, when she asked: "Why do you go to Mumbai every alternate day and don't see me?"
On his mother...
It is my mother who brought us up after my father's demise. She always encouraged me to do whatever I wanted to. I can't describe her contribution along with my brother Ashish in my life.
In politics...
When Fadnavis contested his first election for Nagpur Corporation, he was a final-year law student and he was under-aged for contesting an election. Incidentally, the election was postponed and he completed 21 years to become eligible to contest.
When he met Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Acclaimed photographer Vivek Ranade had shot Devendra like a model and his photos were used outside a friend's shop in Dharampeth area, near Devendra's house. Those pictures of Fadnavis as a model in the form of hoardings were displayed in the city and it was the talk of the town. When Devendra met Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Vajpayee welcomed Devendra by saying, "Aao model Vidhayak Aao".
