Twenty four-year-old Amol Waghmare, a final year student of Masters in Management Studies (MMS) at the University of Mumbai is on the verge of losing a lucrative job offer at a leading finance company thanks to the inordinate delay in getting his re-evaluation result from the varsity.

Waghmare, a student of the Sinhgad Institute of Business Management in Chandivali appeared for his exam in August and it has been over five months since he has been awaiting his re-evaluation result for a single paper.

"I had scored only 19 marks in the paper which is not possible considering my paper went well. My results came on August 24 after which I immediately applied for re-evaluation. In November, I also appeared for my ATKT exams for the same subject. However, neither the results of re-evaluation nor the ATKT exam have come in.

Meanwhile I am on the verge of losing my job offer at a leading finance company as the company needs the result before I can join," said Waghmare.

Even as the University of Mumbai claims that it would fix all the result-related delays by declaring the results of the winter semester examinations soon, close to 2,000 students who had applied for re-evaluation of papers, appeared for in the previous summer semester, are still awaiting their results. As the varsity's administration is working harder and faster towards declaring the results of the winter semester exams without any delays this time around, all the students who are awaiting their re-evaluation results have been left in the lurch.

Students said that even after an inordinate delay, the varsity has been paying no heed to any of their complaints. "Every time one tries to ask the authorities in the exam department about the results, they ask us to wait and there is no end to this. It is pathetic how the varsity makes tall claims of having declared all results," said a BE student.

  • Total students: 3,76,686

  • Total students who applied for re-evaluation: 80,721

  • As the university is focusing on declaring the winter semester exam results smoothly, the re-evaluation results have taken a back seat.

  • Students claim that despite repeated complaints and inquiries, there has been no resolution of their issues.
