The Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC) of the Mumbai crime branch on Wednesday wrote an email to a United States-based media house to block and provide details of the articles published on their website against Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria.

The email to the editorial department of the media house states that the Mumbai crime branch is inquiring into a cyber-crime complaint wherein objectionable material about police commissioner of Mumbai (Rakesh Maria) is found to be uploaded.

The police have requested the media house to delete, block the links with immediate effect and provide them details such as user's creation details with Internet Protocol address date and time, login details of the user and any optional email ID given by the user.

The article states that an advocate, who is handling one of the terror attack cases in Maharashtra, had made allegations that he had been threatened and frontally attacked Maria for his conduct as ATS chief.

When contacted joint commissioner of police, crime, Sadanand Date refused to comment on the matter.
