Unhappy NCP leaders now eyeing Shiv Sena, BJP

Sunday, 8 June 2014 - 6:00am IST | Place: Mumbai | Agency: DNA

After landslide victory of BJP and NDA alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, some of the ruling party corporators as well as aspirants, who were rejected party tickets during the last civic polls, are now eyeing BJP or Shiv Sena to revive their political career.

According to sources, "The Lok Sabha election results have shaken many and some of the corporators are likely to switch their loyalties to Sena or BJP. Some senior leaders, too, are in talks with saffron alliance. Though it is premature to say what will be the outcome of the talks, it is true that such talks are on."

They said, "There are many aspirants, who were denied tickets last time, but are still with the party. These people will be the first ones to jump over to other side citing injustice done to them, despite working for the party all these years. Also, there are some who are making all types of noises within the party now. Though some may have not openly expressed displeasure, it is true that they are not happy with the ruling party's functioning."

Sources said, "During the recently held Lok Sabha elections, some senior NCP corporators worked within their wards only and did not go full throttle during electioneering. This can be attributed to several reasons, including, the leaders' displeasure with the NCP leadership here. Now that the Lok Sabha poll results are out, chances are that some could switch over to Sena. As far as Navi Mumbai is concerned, Sena is the most preferred choice for many."
