The Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested two teenaged students for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Chembur.
The accused have been identified as Aman Mohammad Hamid Khan (15) and Mohammad Irshad Suman Kutubbudin (19). One of them is a classmate of victim.
According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday night when the accused took the girl to a secluded place and attempted to rape her. The father of the victim spotted the incident and then filed a complaint at Deonar police station. The police have arrested the accused and are investigating the matter.
The case has been registered under the relevant section of Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual offenses.
"We are investigating the matter and have recorded the statements of the witnesses. We are awaiting the girl's medical reports," said Dattatray Shinde, Senior Police Inspector of Deonar Police Station.
The accused were produced in the court on Saturday. The teenaged accused was remanded to police custody while the minor accused was sent to a juvenile home in Dongri.
