Two Shiv Sena corporators in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) resigned as members of the standing committee on Wednesday without giving any specific reasons, however they said that they followed orders given by the party supremo.

While Mangesh Satamkar and Ashish Chemburkar resigned on Wednesday afternoon, the announcement to the media was made only on Thursday.

Satamkar said that he is not aware why the party asked him to leave the committee. "I was informed on Wednesday afternoon around 4 pm to resign from the post of member of standing committee and I followed the order," he said, and added that in Shiv Sena there was no trend of asking for the reason behind a decision taken by senior party leaders.

They submitted their resignations to the municipal secretary on Wednesday that left two positions held by the Sena vacant in the committee.

According to sources, there was a feud within members for the post of standing committee chairman which will be vacant by March. The party took steps to control the internal feud. Both Chemburkar and Satamkar are considered heavyweights in the Sena's Mumbai unit.

Meanwhile, six corporators defected from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and formally joined the Sena at the civic body's general body meeting held on Thursday.
