Two Mira Road youth die in hit-and-run accident

Two Mira Road youth were found at the Western Express Highway near Kandivali on Monday late night, victims of a hit-and-run accident. The Samta Nagar police beat marshals found one of the youth dead while the other was rushed to Shatabdi hospital for treatment but before he too succumbed to his injuries.

Saad Teerandaz, 21, a Hotel and Tourism student from Rizvi college, and Bilal Ansari, a mechanical engineering student were both residents of Kanakia residency at Mira road. Ansari was found alive when he was rushed to Shatabdi hospital but Teerandaz had succumbed to severe injuries on the spot and was declared dead before admission.

"The duo were on their scooty when an unknown vehicle touched them which pushed them on the divider leading to severe injuries",said Dilip Yadav, Senior Inspector, Samata Nagar police station.

"The youth were going home from college but met with an accident, our police officers during patrolling found duo in an injured state and rushed them to the hospital for treatment", said Yadav.

"We have registered a case under sections 304A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 182 of the Motor Vehicle Act against unknown driver", said Yadav.

"We are checking the CCTV camera footage of the incident so that we can identify the driver," said Yadav.
