A 38-year-old man from Mumbai, who allegedly attempted to rob an office, flashing his revolver was arrested by the police on Tuesday. One of his accomplices however, managed to flee and the police are on the lookout for him. The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 2pm at spices market in APMC.

According to the police, both the suspects are angadias (traditional couriers). The victims they had targeted fought back and with the help of some other people a police team managed to nab one of them. The accused has been identified as Sanjay Jhagad. The police have seized a country made revolver from him.

According to Vivek Lawand, police inspector from APMC police station, "Two well dressed men entered the third floor office of angadia Yogesh Patil, posing as traders. One of them pulled out a chopper and threatened Patil asking him to part with whatever cash he had."

"Patil however, resisted and a scuffle broke out between them when Jhagad pulled out a country made revolver and threatened him," Lawand said.

Meanwhile, a customer who had come to the office rushed in to help Patil. Realising there could be trouble, one of the attackers fled, locking the room.

"Even as Jhagad threatened the duo with this revolver, the market crowd gathered and caught hold of him. Our patrolling team that was in the area too reached and Jhagad was overpowered," Lawand said.

While Jhagad has been arrested, police have seized his firearm and a Swift Dzire car the duo had come in. The police are looking for the absconding accused and also investigating the background of the arrested accused.
