Two commit suicide in Mulund, in 24 hours

The Mulund police have registered cases of accidental death in both matters.

Two suicides were witnessed in Mulund area of the eastern suburbs, in less than 24 hours. In the first case, a 65-year old woman jumped from a high rise, in the second, a 21-year old youth hanged himself.
According to senior inspector Prakash Mansukh of Mulund police, a 65-year old woman jumped to death from the 18th floor of a skyscraper at Vardhaman Nagar at 8.30 am on Saturday.

"She had committed suicide due to family issues. She also has a 40-year old daughter," said inspector Mansukh.

In the second case, 21 year-old Vishal Rakesh Singh, a resident of Veer Sambhaji Nagar in Mulund, committed suicide in his flat at 1.30 am on Sunday. "Singh was at home with two of his brothers. His mother had gone to her native place and Singh was supposed to pick her up from station in the morning. When his brothers were asleep, Singh went inside another room and committed suicide using a nylon rope," informed inspector Mansukh.

When the brothers woke up, they found Singh hanging, which is when the police was informed. He was then rushed to Mulund General Hospital.

"We have not found any suicide not from Singh's residence, and his mobile phone is password protected. We are taking the help of experts to unlock it to ascertain what drove him to take the extreme step," said inspector Mansukh.

The Mulund police have registered cases of accidental death in both matters.
