Though Shiv Sena and Bhartiya Janata Party ended bitter acrimony to come together post Maharashtra assembly elections, the party leaders are showing no signs of ending the war of words. Taking cue from senior party leaders who are leaving no stone unturned to taunt each other, junior leaders are also openly expressing hostility.

Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray got involved in a war of words on Twitter with Mumbai BJP president and MLA Ashish Shelar over issue of LED lights on the street on Marine Drive. Terming the decision of changing the street light 'reckless', Aaditya Thackeray said that as NDA we have considered Chief Minister's voices for Neeti Ayog, why not local councils for Street Lights?

In a series of tweets, Aaditya Thackeray said, "The White lights have stolen the Neckless of its charm. Reckless decision than Neckless. Yellow lights were charm. The point is those who have taken decision of these new lights, do they love Mumbai? Respect local self government?"

However, in a counter reply to Aaditya, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar defended the change made in the street lights. Stating that the 'change is charming', Shelar said old technology can charm once a year, new charms 364 days. Marine drive deserved the change. The new charm comes with reduced electricity bills."

Going further Shelar also replied to Aaditya's question 'do they love Mumbai, saying "Contract went to PSU and not pvt contractor ! Public became rich. Love to Mumbai!"

However, both the leaders further continued countering each other. Voicing his views, Aditya further replied, "Shelar ji I am a firm believer in change and technology as well as maintaining the charm. I don't mean to spar, but yellow LEDs could do. As NDA we have considered CMs' voices for Neeti Ayog, why not local councils for Street Lights? Cannot kill democracy. Local Self government's voice needs to be heard. Change cannot be thrust on them. We need to respect these bodies."

Further commenting on Aditya's tweets, Shelar also used #LoveMumbai Hashtag and said, "Adopting technology enriches the local government. and gives more power to local government. Having patience and adequate information is important for reacting meaningfully. Voices in a democracy become more credible when that is done."

Though, post assembly verdict, both the parties managed to reach a consensus to come together, the cold war between the two parties seems to be ending nowhere.

Failing to bury their differences over seat-sharing, Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who made up one of the oldest political alliances in the country had earlier parted ways just two days before filing the nomination forms for the Maharashtra assembly polls and later buried the differences when 10 ministers of Sena were inducted into Devendra Fadnavis government.

Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray, who was projected at the national level by his father Uddhav Thackeray by choosing him over other senior leaders to discuss the seat sharing issue during state polls, now seems to be stepping into his father's shoes.
