The Amboli police recently arrested a Turkish national for allegedly duping a woman of Rs 36,000 at Infinity Mall in Andheri (W) on the pretext of helping her count her money.

The arrested foreigner has been identified as Krismeen Abdul Samad.

According to the police, Samad came to the city a few months ago on a tourist visa. On Aug 24, he was in Infinity Mall at New Link Road for shopping.

"While passing through a store, Samad spotted a woman having problem counting money as she was carrying shopped goods. He approached her and offered to help her in counting money," said an officer in Amboli police station.

However, while the woman was busy, Samad pocketed Rs 36,000 and left the spot. She then lodged a complaint of theft and cheating with Amboli police.

"We managed to trace and apprehended Samad on Aug 29. We have also recovered the stolen money from him. He was produced before the court and was remanded in police custody. We have also informed his embassy about his arrest. Samad is now out on bail," the officer said.
